Sociology Graduate Student Writing Retreat
November 3 @ 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm
This ½ day event intersperses quiet, uninterrupted writing time with the opportunity to work with colleagues and Sherri on pieces of writing. While graduate students might use this time to work on a dissertation chapter, they might also use it to work on a post-doc or fellowship proposal, or on an article for publication. The general goals of the event are to encourage students in their writing practice, offer writing support to help them improve, and offer a space for the development of a scholarly writing community among our graduate students.
The set-up has one or two rooms of quiet writing sessions and one room for “live editing” where we will take pieces of text and edit them together. Participants can choose to attend only quiet writing sessions or live editing sessions, or do a combination of both. Students wishing to participate in the live-editing session(s) should bring along a digital copy of a piece of writing that needs stylistic editing.
Registration is required.
Please contact Sherri Klassen at email@example.com to indicate your interest in participating.
