School for Cities: Ecological Concepts in the Urban Sciences

April 2, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Part of the Urban Challenge Project Seminars

“Ecological Concepts in the Urban Sciences: Interdisciplinary Perspectives”

Ecological concepts have grounded urban research across a number of disciplines, including sociology, community psychology, civil engineering, biology, environmental science, and beyond. However, these multiple ecological traditions have largely evolved separately and in parallel, rarely communicating with one another. This session will bring together researchers from human ecology, industrial ecology, and biological ecology working on urban problems to discuss how insights from these domains can inform and interact with one another toward building a unified science of cities.
