Biography
Professor Brent Berry is a social demographer who studies urban sociology, racial and ethnic relations, and health. He is interested in how complex processes operate over time to shape stratification and inequality, and is known for using innovative measures and methods to provide a fresh insight into social problems. He has published research that examines causes of sedentary lifestyles, the extent of food marketing aimed at children, obstacles in race and ethnic relations, and housing attainment. He is also interested in the impact of economic stress on household formation, health, and well-being. His research is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
