FIELDS (Forum for Integrated Economic, Lifestyle, and Distinction Studies)
When and Where
Speakers
Description
FIELDS (Forum for Integrated Economic, Lifestyle, and Distinction Studies) is a departmental club devoted to discussing, presenting, and developing field theory in all its stages. The club comprises monthly speaker sessions led by experts in field theory and a monthly presenting/reading group for graduate students. The goals of each session are to introduce new people to field theory and to create an open space for critical engagement over our personal research projects and fields generally.
Our first event is next week, September 18th, at 4-5:30pm in room FE 17020. Professor Vanina Leschziner and Ron Levi will be leading the discussion on key concepts in field theory. As with the theory workshop, participation in the discussion is open to everyone and aimed at being relevant for sociological theory generally. We selected some readings with Vanina and Ron that will structure the discussion.
Following is a link to the event and the FIELDS website. Please feel free to share with any friends who may be interested. I look forward to talking fields with you all!
