Josée Johnston

Josée Johnston is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto at Mississauga. Her current substantive interest is the sociological study of food, which is a lens for investigating questions that lie at the intersection of culture, politics, and the environment. Dr. Johnston’s work examines discourses of ethical consumption, and investigates how consumers seek social transformation within the constraints of contemporary market forces and neoliberal regulatory regimes. She currently teaches courses on the sociology of food and globalization with an emphasis on inequality, social justice, and sustainability.
