Congratulations to PhD student Mircea Gherghina, who recently received a Climate Positive Energy Initiative Graduate Scholarship (2022-2023) from the University of Toronto. The scholarship supports students who are active in “re-envisioning and transforming our energy systems and achieving carbon negative emissions.”
Mircea is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto. His research interests lie at the intersection of organizations, environmental policy, sociology of technology and innovation, and computational social science. His current research investigates the social and political dynamics governing the emergence and diffusion of green technologies in the context of a just transition to the green economy. He holds a MSc in Social Science Research Methods (awarded with distinction) from the University of Bristol and a BA in Economics from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. Previously, he worked for the European Central Bank, the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, the University of Bristol, and Transparency Solutions.
