This article seeks to better understand the specificity of Francophone catholicity of the Archdiocese of Ottawa through the analysis of unpublished statistics on the practice of and affiliation to the Catholic Archdiocese (1968-2008). Using the statistics of a larger study on Catholicism in Québec and in Canada, and unpublished Canadian statistics on the diocesan scale, this article grants a greater understanding of the dynamics that span the Francophone catholicity of Ontario, and above all, of Ottawa, by examining the evolution of diverse indicators that touch both Catholicism and the Francophones of the archdiocese. Navigating between two distinct organisations, one of a Francophone dominance and one of a more Anglophone / Allophone dominance, the Catholicism of the Archdiocese of Ottawa is explored in all of its originality within its Ontarian context. Diverse socio-demographic variables are used to in order to understand the distinctive features of Catholicism in an Ottawa context.
